What does a child see in life?
Not the future.
Nor the past.
Only the then and the there.
Easily occupied, hardly bored.
Never a day without adventure.
Most lose that happy child inside.
Or forget it in the past.
Some shun their past child.
And then
There are those that embrace that child.
And take it with them throughout life.
Occasionally not-remembering, but never forgetting.
Anyone who has an inner child will forever remember the happiness of simple things.
Of flowers.
Or sunshine.
Or the breeze as it cools off a hot summer day.

Silver opened her eyes. After four, long years. She was alive. She took a deep breath in, marveling at the feel of oxygen in her lungs. She sat up, shaking her head as she looked around the white room.
A doctor's office.
Silver yawned, then looked down at her body. She didn't see what she had expected. An orange body with a cream colored belly and claws. She twisted around to look at her back. Two tiny wings that shouldn't be able to carry her new weight. Silver slowly moved them, stretching the greenish membrane back and forth.

Silver closed her eyes. Of course she wouldn't be in her original body. It had decayed years
With a groan, Terra shook her head, trying to toss the dizzy from her eyes.
"Ahh " said a low, cunning voice. Terra jumped, snapping her head around, looking for the source.
"Who's there?" she asked, taking a defensive step backwards. The girl strained her ears and eyes into the darkness, tail lashing back and forth.
An older man stepped out of the shadows, torches lighting behind him as he did so. "So you," he said, eyes sparkling with interest in the girl. "Are the one called Terra." Slowly Terra nodded.

Terra looked across the blackness at Hydro. He was wearing a blue jacket with a white shirt below it, and his favorite bluejeans. "Hydro," the girl said, smiling at him. Hydro simply stared at her.
"Hydro?" Terra said softly sadly, as she neared her best friend It had been only moments ago that she confessed her love to him. Then what had happened? Did she pass out? Was this some dream?
"Hey," Terra said, now standing directly in front of her friend, he seemed to look right through her. "Hydro " Terra raised a hand to cup his cheek. A simple, gentle motion. Something she wasn't used to.
